Diving in Albanian coastline - Diving Center

DAY 1

You will meet our guides at “Mother Theresa” International Airport. Afterwards will be headed towards the coastline of Albania in Vlora city.

As well as being home to a fascinating history, it’s also the start of the wonderful stretch of coastline known as the Albanian Riviera; home to some of the most spectacular shorelines.

One of the best things to do in Vlore is to simply stroll along the promenade with the rest of the crowd. Stop for some food, or a drink, or just enjoy the party atmosphere. There’s something here for everyone.

Accommodation in a nice hotel.

DAY 2
DIVING IN KARABURUN & SAZAN NATIONAL MARINE PARK

We will leave the hotel early in the morning, accompanied by Albania Adventure’s 4WD vehicles, in the direction of Vlora’s fishing port.  It is here where we leave by boat towards Karaburun peninsula.

Wonderful landscapes are unavoidable throughout the boat trip as well as mountains rising on cliffs with an altitude up to 1200 m above the sea level. At the cliffs’ bottom you will be marveled by bays and beaches unspoiled by men, of which only few can be reached by land. This magnificent and unusual place will be explored by diving. It is a virgin region on the edge of Ionian and Adriatic Sea, near Haxhi Ali’s cave.

Sazan Island is a military area but for several years during the summer months is open to visitors. It is located inside the Karaburun-Sazan National Underwater Park. Offers the opportunity for completely unique diving experiences. The seabed of the island is full of life. Diving here is remarkable as you will admire different aquatic plants and marine life.

On this day we will do two dives. One of this in Karaburun and the other in Sazan island.

The night life of the Albanian Rivera can be fully enjoyed in the vibrant bars and clubs in Vlora. Accommodation in Vlora.

DAY 3

DIVING AT THE HOSPITAL SHIP “PO”

In the Bay of Vlora, resting at a depth of 35 m, lies one of the largest and most impressive wrecks in the whole Adriatic, that of the Italian hospital ship Po, sunk by British torpedo bombers on 14 March 1941. In the darkness of the night, the pilots were not aware that the ship was a hospital ship. In the attack that ensued, 21 on board the ship died. The ship also hosted Mussolini’s eldest daughter, Edda Ciano Mussolini, who was working on the ship as a nurse for the Red Cross and survived the attack.

The tip of the shipwreck is 18 meters deep. It is in a protected position and away from currents. It is a 150 meter long. At the Po shipwreck we will do 2-dives.

Late in afternoon we leave Vlora to continue our adventure in direction of one of the most popular beaches of the southern coast, Drymades beach.

DAY 4

DIVING CENTER – DRYMADES BEACH – SHIP WRECK

There will be 2 dives in Drymades.

The first dive at the ship wreck. Take diving into a whole other level and explore the shipwreck of the first Albanian marine diving support vessel, produced in China in 1974, with a length of 28.4 m and width of 5.4 m.

A memorable experience for divers who crave an adventure spiced with a sense of exploration and discovery

This recreational diving experience is unique in its kind considering that this is the only shipwreck in the Mediterranean seas where you can find and visit an old Hyperbaric chamber, which nowadays is very hard to find even in the Shipwreck Centers and Maritime Museums.

The waters of Drymades beach are known for being warm and calm all year round with great visibility, making this experience much more enjoyable and ensuring that great photos can be taken during this dive.

Second dive

Besides being renowned as a pristine dive destination with flourishing marine life, the waters of Drymades beach are the resting place of a MIG 21 fighter plane wreck from the communist era.

Accommodation in Drymades.

DAY 5

DIVING CENTER – DIVING IN PORTO PALERMO PENINSULA

After enjoying at the utmost our experience at Drymades beach we move in the direction of  Porto Palermo tectonic peninsula, which is considered as one of the 10 most beautiful diving spots in Europe.

We will carry out our first dive on the right side of Ali Pasha’s castle, where is a cave that has an entrance at a depth of only twenty meters and extends to almost 30 m. The inside of the cave is really large, which give you the possibility to have great photos the of marine life.

After our first dive has been accomplished we have the chance here to visit Porto Palermo’s castle

It is situated in the bay with the same name, on the coast of Ionian sea in southern Albania. It is beautifully positioned in the Porto Palermo’s tectonic peninsula (known in antiquity as Panorma Bay). This triangle-shaped castle is positioned not far away from Qeparo village. The castle occupies an area of 150 m x 400 m and its walls reach up to 20 m height.

Our second dive will be accomplished on the castle’s left side of the Castle. In antiquity ships used this area to be protected by storms. This dive is absolutely going to be marvelous as we will have the possibility to come across numerous types of amphorae and other antique objects.

We will leave Porto Palermo to go back to Drymades beach.

Accommodation in Drymades beach.

DAY 6

We leave the coastline to go and visit the Albanian Capital. Tirana is the cultural, economic, entertainment and political center of Albania. It is a town full of interesting things to see and do. Tirana is one of the most colorful cities you’ll see in the Balkans. Strolling through the town, you’ll see painted facades, street art graffiti and murals that add brightness to this already lively town.

One of the best ways to admire the colors of Tirana is to walk through the Blloku area to Pazari i Ri. Accommodation in a nice hotel in very good location.

DAY 7

Depending on your flying timetable we will be headed towards “Mother Theresa” International Airport.
